Best-Practice Presets

Based on extensive protocol development in cooperation with experienced doctors, as well as vast pre-clinical and clinical research, we have created a series of presets that address relevant indications and patient-specific requirements. Presets are selected through a highly intuitive user interface that enables simple operation from day one, while ensuring optimal results.

Tools of a Master Craftsman

The highly advanced, automated ProScan scanner realises HyGrid’s full capabilities by providing an effect that is ablative, coagulative, and thermal all at once (or separately if needed). This lightweight, ergonomically designed applicator boasts a cooled tip to enhance treatment safety and patient comfort, and offers a range of different scanning shapes and modes to enable rapid coverage of large surface areas.

Award Winning Design

Streamlined and ultra-modern in both design and capabilities, the stylish Alma Hybrid has won multiple awards.

Leading Technologies

  • co2 - Hybrid
The optimal blend of ablative, coagulative and thermal effect for efficient, highly-precise focus or fractional laser treatments that offer the perfect resurfacing.
  • A powerful non-ablative laser that creates the ultimate deep thermal effect, promoting new dermis synthesis, while leaving the epidermis intact.
  • IMPACT - Hybrid
Our patented IMPACT Ultrasound technology creates an acoustic pressure, designed to enhance trans-epidermal delivery through the micro-channels created by the CO2 laser for improves overall results.
  • A revolutionary application that supports Alma Hybrid’s dual laser strategy by enabling complete customisation of the ablative (CO2 laser)/non-ablative (Erbium laser) ratio.

Alma Hybrid: what clinics ask before they buy

Alma Hybrid is Alma’s top-tier ablative laser platform and the only one that fires an ablative CO2 beam and a non-ablative 1570 nm beam side by side in the same pass, in a ratio the practitioner sets, or in sequence when the case calls for it. One console covers skin resurfacing and rejuvenation, acne and surgical and burn scars, keloid management, fine lines, striae, skin laxity and benign lesions, on skin types I to VI, with no consumables.

What qualifications or approval do you need to operate the Alma Hybrid?

Two separate things, and clinics often conflate them. Device approval: in Australia Alma Hybrid is included in the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods under entry 321320, with Alma Lasers Australia Pty Ltd as sponsor, Class IIb. Operator requirements: these are set by each state and territory, not by Alma, and they differ. Queensland, Tasmania and Western Australia licence laser use; other states apply different rules, and requirements change. Our Laser and IPL Regulations page keeps the current position for every state, and we take each clinic through what applies to them before installation. Whatever the state rule, every installation includes on-site clinical training for your team by an Alma clinical specialist.

What is the clinical advantage of Alma Hybrid?

Control over the trade-off between result and downtime. HyGrid lets you set the ablative to non-ablative ratio inside a single matrix of micro-dots, so an aggressive resurfacing for deep acne scars and a low-downtime rejuvenation for a first-time patient run on the same machine with the same ProScan applicator. Pixel Peel mode fires the fractional beam in a randomised pattern rather than a fixed grid, so neighbouring columns cool before the next shot lands, which respects the tissue’s thermal relaxation time and lowers downtime again.

What is unique about it?

Three things. The two wavelengths fired together rather than in separate passes. The ProScan automated scanner with a cooled tip, which lases both wavelengths. And the IMPACT ultrasound applicator, which uses acoustic pressure to drive skin-approved topicals through the micro-channels the CO2 has just opened, so the treatment does not end when the laser stops.

What are the main indications?

Skin rejuvenation and resurfacing, acne scars, surgical scars, burn scars and keloid management, fine lines and wrinkles, striae, skin laxity, benign lesions and active acne. Published work on the platform includes Arellano-Huacuja on keloid management with a combined continuous-wave and repeat fractionated CO2 regimen, Tsur Shenhav and colleagues on the dual CO2 and 1570 nm laser for periorbital rejuvenation, and Somji and Solomon on the 1570 nm scanner for non-ablative face and neck rejuvenation.

Is it worth it compared with a CO2-only laser?

Alma Hybrid does everything Alma Pixel CO2 does and adds the 1570 nm wavelength and IMPACT. If your clinic is built on scar revision and rejuvenation where comfort and short downtime drive rebooking, that is the argument. If you want a proven fractional and surgical CO2 platform at a lower entry point, Pixel CO2 is the one. The side-by-side comparison is on our professional CO2 laser machines page.

What does it cost, and is finance available?

We do not publish list prices, because the platform is configured to the clinic. There are no consumables, so after purchase the cost per treatment is practitioner time. Every quote includes installation, clinical training and a 12-month factory warranty. Equipment finance is available through Australian lenders including Medfin. Request pricing and we will come back with a configured quote for your clinic in Australia or New Zealand.

FAQs

  • Two separate things have to be in place. First the device: Alma Hybrid is included in the ARTG under 321320, so it is lawful to supply and use in Australia. Second the operator: laser and IPL use is regulated state by state, not federally, so requirements differ depending on where your clinic is. Some states require a licence or registration for Class 4 laser use and a nominated laser safety officer, others rely on training records and a documented safety plan. In practice most clinics run Alma Hybrid with a doctor, nurse or experienced therapist who has completed Alma clinical training at installation. Alma Lasers Australia walks each clinic through the rules that apply in its state before installation. See laser and IPL regulations.

  • The clinical advantage is control over the balance between ablation and dermal stimulation in a single pass. Because the CO2 and 1570nm beams fire side by side in one grid at a ratio you set, HyGrid, you can give an older patient with heavy photodamage a resurfacing-weighted treatment and give a younger patient with acne scarring a stimulation-weighted one, without changing handpiece or machine. That means fewer compromises between result and downtime. Pixel Peel adds a randomised firing pattern that spreads heat over time and shortens recovery, which is the main objection patients raise to CO2 resurfacing.

  • Alma Hybrid is CE marked and FDA cleared. For a clinic buying in Australia the relevant listing is the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods, and Alma Hybrid is included in the ARTG under 321320, the same entry as the Alma Harmony platform. Device inclusion is separate from who may operate the device: operator licensing and training requirements are set state by state. Ask an Alma representative for the current certificates for your market, and see laser and IPL regulations for the Australian rules that apply to your clinic.

  • Alma Hybrid is the only laser that fires an ablative CO2 beam at 10,600nm and a non-ablative 1570nm beam side by side in the same grid, with the ratio between them set by the operator. You can weight a treatment towards surface renewal or towards deep dermal stimulation, or fire the two wavelengths sequentially, all from the same handpiece. Pixel Peel fires the fractional beam in a randomised pattern, which lengthens thermal relaxation time between adjacent columns and reduces downtime for the patient. The IMPACT applicator then uses ultrasound to drive approved topical preparations into freshly treated skin.

  • Alma Hybrid is used for skin resurfacing and tone and texture correction, acne scars and surgical or traumatic scars, wrinkles and photodamage, stretch marks, pigmentation, and skin tightening. With the HyLight applicator the CO2 laser can also be used alone for soft tissue surgery, including ablation, vaporisation, excision, incision and coagulation, which is why skin doctors and dermatologists use it as well as aesthetic clinics. The IMPACT applicator adds ultrasound-assisted delivery of approved topical preparations immediately after resurfacing.
