Two systems, one virtually painless method

Alma’s Soprano range is used in more Australian clinics than any other diode laser hair removal platform. Two current models, Soprano ICE Platinum and Soprano Titanium Special Edition, both fire 755, 810 and 1064 nm simultaneously from one applicator and use Alma’s SHR technology, which delivers low-fluence pulses at high repetition so treatment is virtually painless and safe on skin types I–VI, including tanned skin, all year round.

Which Soprano system is for your clinic

Adding hair removal to a skin practice, or opening with a mixed patient base? Soprano ICE Platinum is the entry to the range. Its Trio 2 cm² applicator combines 755 nm, 810 nm and 1064 nm in one handpiece, so a single machine covers every skin type without changing wavelengths between patients, and a facial tip handles the hard-to-reach areas.

High-volume hair removal, where chair time is the business model? Soprano Titanium Special Edition comes with both the Trio MAX 4 cm² applicator, with a high-fluence mode for large areas, and the Trio 2 cm² for faces and small areas, plus ICE Plus continuous cooling and a two-portal platform with presets by skin type and area. It runs up to 20% faster than the standard Soprano Titanium in SHR in-motion mode, and was independently validated by Sapio Research as the fastest laser hair removal treatment on the market.*

Indications & Results

  • Dark skin

Dark skin has a high level of melanin, which will act as a competing chromophore in laser hair removal, potentially resulting in burns. SHR technology overcomes this challenge, by the delivery of low-fluence and high-repetition-rate energy, enabling treatment of up to skin type VI.
  • Vellus hair

Fine, light hair on the face and body is the hardest to treat. With three wave lengths providing a wide range of absorption and penetration depths, Alma’s solutions can effectively remove even vellus hair.
  • Facial hair

Small areas - such as in the nose and ears - can be hard to access and treat. Alma offers a range of applicators in different sizes, including a facial tip that can target even one to two hairs at a time.

How to choose a laser hair removal system

Diode laser or IPL?

IPL is broad-spectrum light; a diode laser is a single wavelength tuned to melanin in the follicle. For a clinic whose revenue depends on hair removal, a dedicated diode system treats faster, treats darker skin more safely and needs fewer sessions. IPL applicators make sense as an add-on to a multi-platform device such as Harmony XL Pro, where hair removal is one service among many.

Why three wavelengths at once?

810 nm is the workhorse for most patients. 755 nm reaches fine and light hair that 810 nm struggles with, and 1064 nm penetrates deeper and is the safest choice for skin types V–VI. Firing all three together means one pass suits the patient in the chair, whoever they are, which is why both current Soprano models are triple-wavelength and why a clinic never has to turn a patient away for skin tone.

Platinum or Titanium Special Edition?

Applicator size and speed decide it. Both models carry the Trio 2 cm² head; only Titanium SE adds the Trio MAX 4 cm², which covers a full back or both legs in noticeably fewer passes, and its in-motion mode adds up to 20% on top. If most of your bookings are faces, underarms and bikini, the ICE Platinum does the same clinical work at a lower entry price, and speed is a lower priority.

What does “virtually painless” actually mean?

SHR heats the follicle gradually with many low-energy pulses rather than one high-energy shot, while the ICE tip cools the skin surface. Patients typically describe warmth rather than snapping. That comfort matters commercially: a patient who doesn’t dread the session is far more likely to complete the full course.

The evidence

SHR is the only clinically proven virtually painless method of laser hair removal. The Soprano range is FDA cleared for skin types I–VI including tanned skin, and is supplied in Australia by Alma Lasers Australia Pty Ltd as sponsor under ARTG entry 321320 (Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods, Class IIb medical device). Published studies include Raj Kirit et al. (Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology) on triple-wavelength hair reduction in skin types IV–V; Akerman et al. on the combined 755/810/1064 nm device; Naranjo et al. (Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, 2022); and Omi (Laser Therapy, 2017) on 810 nm static and in-motion modes. All are linked from each product page under Clinical Resources.

Cost, finance and support

How much does a professional laser hair removal machine cost in Australia?

We don’t publish list prices, because the right configuration depends on your applicators, your patient mix and whether you’re financing. Soprano ICE Platinum is the entry to the range and Soprano Titanium Special Edition sits at the top. Every quote includes installation, clinical training for your team and a 12-month factory warranty. Request pricing and we’ll come back with a configured quote for your clinic.

Is finance available?

Yes. Alma works with a range of Australian lenders and brokers, including Medfin, so you can compare equipment-finance options against your quote. Ask for a finance illustration and we’ll arrange it with the lender that suits your practice.

What training is included?

Installation and on-site clinical training for your team by an Alma clinical specialist, followed by ongoing protocol support and access to Alma Academy sessions. Fundamentals training for new staff runs regularly at Alma’s offices and is free of charge. If you’d prefer a dedicated training day, it’s $800 at an Alma location or $1,600 on site at your clinic, plus travel for regional locations. Prices in AUD and subject to change.

What about service and support?

Alma Lasers Australia is the manufacturer’s own subsidiary, not a distributor. Our service department runs 9:00 am to 5:30 pm on business days, with availability over the weekend for urgent issues. Engineers, spare parts and applicator repairs are based in Australia. Response times differ between metro and regional locations, and we’ll walk you through what to expect for your clinic before you buy.

How quickly does a hair removal system pay for itself?

It depends on your pricing and bookings, which is why we build the model with you before you buy. Bring your current treatment prices and weekly bookings to the demo and we’ll show the numbers for each Soprano model.

Can it treat light or fine hair?

Fine and light hair is the hardest to treat because it holds little melanin. The 755 nm wavelength, built into the Trio applicators on both Soprano ICE Platinum and Soprano Titanium SE, is the one designed for it. Results on white or grey hair remain limited with any laser.

I already own a Soprano ICE. Is it still supported?

Yes. Soprano ICE is no longer sold new, but installed systems continue to be serviced and supported by Alma Lasers Australia, and your team can join the same training sessions. Talk to us about upgrade options to the triple-wavelength range when you’re ready.
